Laurel Street Underpass Murals

The intersection of Capitol Avenue and Laurel Street is a prime location to focus efforts for pedestrian wayfinding and beautification. Improvements to this area would connect the Capitol Avenue neighborhood beautification project over to the Parkville section of Hartford., iQuilt proposed painting of the I-84 viaduct pillars on Laurel Street to highlight local assets.. Coordinating with the Hartford Chamber of Commerce for funding and CTMurals for the artists, the pillars were painted as an enhancement to the pedestrian experience for this connection point between the Frog Hollow and Asylum Hill neighborhoods.
