Capitol Avenue #capave

A small business district on Capitol Avenue has been working together for several years to continue growing vibrancy efforts to support the community. The iQuilt Partnership has partnered with neighborhood businesses and the Frog Hollow Neighborhood Revitalization Zone to leverage resources from Envisionfest and other community connections. Since 2020, iQuilt has also raised funds from the Hartford Foundation’s Neighborhood Beautification Grants for this project on a yearly basis.

With this, Capitol Avenue has been decorated with street flower pots from KNOX to support traffic calming, the Refurbished Dumpster Planter Bench has been deployed as a pocket park on the street, a street mural was procured through CTMurals for street corners, and an urban orchard was planted near Park Terrace. This has spurred further investment for more sidewalk benches and an expanded patio at Red Rock Tavern, and some lighting for neighborhood businesses.
