The Insurance Capital Walk is an approximate 2-mile walk through the heart of Downtown and Asylum Hill, passing by many of the iconic insurance companies that have put Hartford on the map as the Insurance Capital of the World. The Connecticut Insurance Department began the walk in 2013 as part of a State Employee fundraising event for charitable causes in the state.

This year, the Connecticut Insurance Department is celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Office of Insurance Commissioner, created in 1865 by the General Assembly. To help mark the milestone, the Department is partnering with the iQuilt Partnership, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and CT Insurance & Financial Services and has expanded the 2015 Walk, inviting insurance company employees, students and others to celebrate the industry’s many philanthropic contributions to the community.

Please READ MORE about the Insurance Capital companies’ history and contributions. Much of the Walk will travel along the iQuilt promenade along historic Bushnell Park.

The Walk will begin at Constitution Plaza at 12:30 p.m. and culminates with a brief speaking program at The Hartford’s Liam McGee Park on Asylum Hill beginning at 2 p.m.

How to Participate:
Participation is voluntary and groups may join the route at any point on the map.
