Med-Ed Corridor

IMG_4413.JPG

In partnership with Launc[H], previously known as Innovation Places Hartford, we implemented several small placemaking initiatives in the Washington and Hudson Street corridors. The goal was to begin marketing the area between Hartford Hospital and Trinity College as the Med-Ed Corridor in Hartford, CT, and begin to build visual cohesion with work underway in downtown Hartford.

Working with Hartford Business Improvement District, Hartford Hospital, Trinity College, and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, streetlight banners were installed along the corridors with photos from each institution to support the area branding. Also on the corridors, electrical utility boxes were wrapped with artwork designed by Constanza Segovia. The downtown wayfinding system was expanded into this corridor. We also worked with Southside Institution Neighborhood Alliance (SINA) to have several pieces of artwork installed on their property, including Ford, a frog created by Dennis Curtis.

The placemaking projects were completed in 2019, and we continue to work with SINA to support corridor development on Washington and Hudson Streets.
